How can I tell if my pet is overweight????

Such a simple question, and yet there are a lot of ways to answer it.....But they say that a picture is worth a thousand words....The picture below outlines weight overviews in dogs and cats ranging from too thin to very obese.

As you can see, thinner animals show more ribs, whereas heavier animals hide their ribs. Ideally, we want to be able to feel a pet's ribs but not be able to see them. We also like to see a waist on our pets.
